Introducing Aristotle Metadata Federation

Curious about Aristotle Federation and its potential to transform your metadata management? Allow us to introduce the Aristotle Federator, a dynamic and indispensable tool that plays a central role in metadata management. It excels in seamlessly synchronizing metadata between two Aristotle Metadata Registries, creating a smooth pathway to effortlessly connect metadata across different registries.

What is the Aristotle Federator?

Federation, in the terms of metadata, refers to the seamless synchronization of metadata between two Aristotle Metadata Registries. At the core of this operation is the Aristotle Federator, a tool designed to effortlessly link metadata from one registry to another.

From your registry, you can establish links to multiple Aristotle registries to federate their public content to your registry using the Federator tool. The image below illustrates how multiple links to Aristotle registries are set up within a single Aristotle registry, providing a straightforward way to federate public metadata content from any of the listed registries.

Clicking on any registry name allows you to create new federation configurations and view the list of existing ones.

By clicking on the name, you can access and review the configuration details and action logs.

Why is Aristotle Federation Helpful?

  • Federation offers a centralised repository for your metadata assets. Instead of dealing with scattered, isolated metadata sources that are available in other Aristotle Metadata Registries, you can now access and manage them in one unified location. This centralisation significantly streamlines the process of discovering and accessing metadata, making it more efficient to work with metadata across various registries.

  • With Federation, the effort required to document and share data assets with other organisations is drastically reduced. This means that you can spend more time on valuable tasks, like creating new metadata and less on repetitive metadata entry.

  • Federation is essential because it streamlines metadata management by allowing users to access and work with metadata from multiple sources in one place. This simplifies data discovery, encourages collaboration, and improves the overall efficiency of metadata-related tasks. This also help users track data lineage between silos and organisations where data is being brought into your organisation.
