Rich text fields for value domain meanings

Can we please get rich text fields for value meanings in value domains?

One of our SMEs wanted a more extensive description with bullet points for a value but this was very messy when putting it in the single line text meaning field.

I ended up putting the full definitions in the comments section, but this isn’t ideal.

Hi Sarah,

Yes, we can do that. It’s a great suggestion. We will discuss the best approach for this functionality internally and work on it. I will keep you informed when it is released.

This would be very useful!
Is there also a chance that this could fix the issue of being unable to add/edit meanings to value domains that have been linked with conceptual domains?

Hi Arran,

It’s not the same issue as the one above, but we can address this separately. As a fix, we will give users the option to either select from the conceptual domain codelist or add text in the meaning field. We will discuss the best approach to resolve this internally and will work on it. I have raised this issue and will keep you updated once it’s resolved.

Cheers,
Shikha

I’m not sure if this issue is entirely related, but I am unable to add to Permissible values from a Conceptual Domain. The dropdown is only appearing in the ‘Meaning’ column (instead of the Value column).

Hi Arran,
Thanks for the post. I think this is working as it should because this Conceptual Domain contains a controlled list of meanings and you can choose what Code can be applied to the meaning. If you enter the Code against the selected meaning it should save for you. Here is a link https://aristotle.cloud/steward/acsa-user-guides/references/file/10 to some more information about Recording a Controlled Vocabulary which includes some information about Conceptual Domains.
Thanks
Robyn

Ah, I thought the conceptual domain was for both values AND meanings. If it’s specifically (a controlled list) for meanings, that makes sense.
I was testing it with one of our favourites, yes/no

So the value in the Conceptual Domain is just to reference what the meaning should be used against - it doesn’t actually get brought into the Permissible Values.
