Is it possible to upload information about the distribution path in the SDDF template? It would be great if this was possible for the Logical Path, Specific Information, Lineage Details, and Lineage Relationships.
Most of our users will have at least some of this information in Excel so it would be great if it can be uploaded as part of the SDDF rather than needing to be clerically typed into the Distribution.

Yes, it is possible to bulk upload logical paths and specific information by simply adding two new columns in the template: one named ‘reference’ for logical paths and the other for ‘specific information’. However, the templates do not support the bulk upload of lineage. The Simple Data Dictionary Format (SDDF) is designed to help users start documenting content, but creating lineage poses challenges and requires manual input from the user.
I have proposed this lineage functionality for the roadmap, and the team will review it. However, you can definitely bulk upload references and specific information by adding the two additional columns to the template.

Thanks very much Shikha. It’s great that we can bulk load the logical paths and specific information.
At this stage having the lineage functionality is more of a nice to have. However on our radar is tools like Microsoft Purview that may allow us to automatically work out the lineages and it would be great if those could be bulk loaded into Aristotle. Anything that reduces clerical work so teams can focus on value adding activities (e.g. adding expert knowledge into Aristotle) make it more sustainable and worthwhile.
